Kia Ora.

I was born in Chile and then moved to England where I studied Textile Design at Central St Martin’s, London and later at Herriot Watt University, Scotland.

I have worked as a designer of industrial woven textiles for about 20 years, both in house and on a freelance basis – mainly  for European Textile Mills and Manufacturers.  I also taught as a visiting lecturer at various UK universities before moving to NZ with my family.

My work focuses on traditional techniques, quality natural materials and vibrant colour combinations inspired by my surroundings, experiences and research findings.

I am very excited about setting up a working studio at the Railway Cottage, where I’ll continue my freelance design but also return to hand weaving and teaching.

The studio houses a small teaching room with table looms that are set up and ready to weave and my adjacent working studio with a 24 shaft dobby loom.

During your visit, you can see the process of making hand-woven fabrics and often you can have-a-little-go yourself too!. Workshops for adults and children are underway. Please check out the Learn page on this site or Contact me.

The studio opening hours do vary so please check first or make an appointment.

However, a selection of my hand woven accessories, circle looms and class gift vouchers is always available in the Founders’ Windmill Shop (which is open everyday of the year between 10-4.30 apart from Xmas day and Good Friday).  Commissions are welcome.

If you live further a-field, you may like to know that some items can also be found on my Etsy shop.
