Sampler

Working out weave structures, motifs and colours for my new mini collection today. Inspired in part by lovely fair isle knitting but mostly by these ‘Fair Isles’ of Aotearoa.

So far so good but, still some way to go.

At lunchtime, I went for a little walk around Founders park and was wowed by this sight. The deep pink blossom carpet on a cloudy day just made me smile – and feel blessed that my studio is situated in such a pretty heritage park.

Little beehive co-op online and in store

Our Little Beehive has a new Facebook online shop. Just a couple of products from each co-op member at the moment but a it’s a beautiful selection of hand made goodness. Free postage within New Zealand too.  I have this soft denim blue striped scarf for sale and  a twin pack circle weaving kit. …so check it out here:

If you are visiting the shop in person over the next few weeks, you will be totally delighted by the current ‘Woodlands’ group exhibition which is really fabulous.

Sparkly and Bright

It’s nearly time for the Great Christmas Market here at Founders Park, Nelson.

I’ll be there on Sunday looking after the Little Beehive Co-op stall. So why not come down, say hello and enjoy a little handmade Christmas shopping plus heaps of special treats.

I’ve been feeling very festive in the studio this week – totally excited by lots of beautiful yarns – golds, creams, textured whites, sparklies and bright jewel colours. Here are some little hand woven decorations currently in progress.

A change of seasons

It’s almost the end of winter here in Nz. This part of the world is so stunning and we’ve been very lucky this year with many bright frosty mornings.

Here are two scarves I made I while ago –  inspired with the snowy mountains and the endless blue that surrounds us.

In anticipation of spring being just around the corner, I wove a few little circle ‘flower’ decorations – these are going to the Little Beehive Co-op shop. Each one an individual.

Today, I’m packing up some threads and circle looms as I fly towards the end of summer in northern hemisphere. I’m very excited to be visiting my family in the UK for a couple of weeks.

Ka kite ano.
